Dear Friends
Kids at Dental Clinic 2025 NepalI want to thank you again for supporting SmileTree/Climb for a Cause. You continue to make an important difference in the lives of children by investing in their dental health and overall ability to thrive.

Following are the results of a recent dental clinic your support helped deliver in Kathmandu, Nepal.

The clinic took place from May 2 – 9, 2025 at the Shree Mangal Dvip School in Kathmandu, Nepal. The clinic hosted four dentists and additional general volunteers. In total, over the six days, 644 local school children received dental care. These are children who normally live their young lives without any access to care and, as a result, often live with chronic dental pain and infection. With these clinics, they receive the first dental care of their lives. Schools return every two years to ensure long term, sustained dental care and oral health education for each of the patients we treat.

For this clinic, students were pre-screened at their schools by a team of volunteer dentists. This allowed the clinic to determine 1) which students had good teeth and could receive a preventive fluoride treatment and new brush at their school and skip the clinic visit, and 2) which students needed to come to the clinic for dental care.

Over the course of the week, volunteers treated those children needing to come to clinic – a total of 644 children from five local schools. Each child received all restorations and extractions needed and returned for follow up care if multiple appointments were required. Each child also received a fluoride treatment, a new toothbrush and extensive oral health education.

The stats for the clinic were are follows:

  • Patients 644
  • Restorations 312
  • Extractions 78
  • SDF* 79
  • Fluoride 298
  • Cleanings 186

*Silver Diamine Fluoride

This was a small, hard-working Team, made special because volunteer dentists were assisted by senior students from the SMD school. Working side by side over the course of six days led to new cross-cultural and generational friendships. The students and volunteers formed a strong and effective team, working together to provide critical care to their patients.
